Icons – from eikon, the Greek word for ‘image’ – have been part of liturgical worship from the beginning.
In the Incarnation, the invisible God becomes visible through the face of Jesus Christ, the Crucified Messiah. And this is the very basis for all icons.
My theory is that we're all starving for something real and meaningful that stretches beyond our hyper-individualised world and into the Eternal.
So, every month, I paint an icon, write about the theology and symbolism, and include a prayer card. I mail it. No digital clutter. Just sacred icons arriving at your door once a month.
A silent retreat for your soul in an increasingly digital world.
Because there's something special about holding an icon in your hands, reading about the mysteries, carrying a prayer in your pocket.
This is my way of bringing together everything I love: theology, philosophy, creating art, making things by hand.
